Multitasking vs. Monotasking

Reading different kinds of blogs, articles, peoples` opinions regarding the way one individual does its work, accomplishes the tasks, got me to point out, in my point of view, the scene behind "Do the errands".

This phrase carries in itself a lot more rather than the way, multitasking or monotasking, they are done, so don`t underestimate it.

Multitasking, for many is the skill without they can`t live, heard about it since they stepped in an educational institution, from professors to superiors. It is the sacred tool for efficiency and productivity, able to do more, accomplish more in a shorter period of time.
From talking on the phone and writing an email, as well as listening to music at once, to cooking the dinner, watching over the children and thinking over and over for the new project you got assigned for.

Dividing your brain to be in two, three or more places at one moment, according to some, results with not-so-good-done-things, as you don`t have your full focus on one thing, rather on several.
But, on the other hand, some researches indicate that not everyone is capable of multitasking, it requests more commitment rather than it looks like.
In fact, this competence sharpens the quickness of thinking of one, its fast respond to a task.

On the other hand, monotasking, personally is not my thing. I can`t work without music, nor to talk on the phone and do nothing else. Can`t walk to home without planning my next day or the rest of the day and listen to music! Can`t imagine planning a presentation without chatting with my co-workers on some social network and make one hell of a display the next week or morning!

Yet, other would sit the entire day in front of a laptop, writing their reports, for instance, without social network, breaks, music and so on. No distractions to creep in their work...
Nevertheless, there is no one who can guarantee you that, even though you were fully focued on your task, and you are pleased with the outcome, your boss will share the same opinion. Then I bet, you will disappointed, like your world fell apart since you could have finished a dozen of other things for that period of time you devoted only to one task.

Therefore we come to the point that not always the right question is multitasking or monotasking, but whether you have  recognized the real demands, your resources, motion and willingness for something.

At the end, do the things how ever it suits you :)
