The Importance of Reminders

Forgetting crucial things is what usually happens when you are swamped with errands, and events you need to attends, but are too stubborn to use a callendar to plan, or set reminders, because you can remember it all.

Well.. We've all been there. Just a few months back, a close friends of mine realized the importance and benefits of using a productivity app, and setting time-reminders.

Let me tell you the story :)

She had a regular 9-5 job, was going to the gym 5 times a week.  At the same time she was looking for a new job, so she was going to a lot of interviews, and also, she was helping out a buddy in his coffee shop few nights a week, and earning a few extra bucks.

She is responsible at most times, but often, she forgets about plans she made, especially the times at which she scheduled something. But her forgetting never caused her major problems, until she forgot about her big interview, and went to the dentist's.

She had a plan, go to work, and take the lunch break and an extra hour to go to the dentist's.
All was going smooth until her dentist asked her how the job hunt is going. Than she remembered. It was the day of big interview and she is sitting there, fixing her teeth. She also remembered my words from several days before when she was in a reverse situation - "Start using a calendar, a reminder app or a planner of some sort because you always make two appointments at once, and you can't complete both errands at the same time, you can't clone yourself, can you?"

So she decided. She jumped off the dentist's chair, and headed for the interview. Called me on the way there to tell me I was right and she did the same mistake again, and asked for a recommendation for an app than can help her.

Since that day, she has used several apps, but MarkO has become her favourite. She now makes sure she enters all important task and appointments in MarkO and sets a time-reminder for each and every one of them. That way, she can always double check what's next, even if she forgot about that particular task.

She practically learned the lesson of how important setting reminders is, and how much easier it is now that MarkO remembers everything for her.
